Last Minute Reminders for the Bighouse Visit

The students should arrive at school by 7:45 on Thursday.  The bus departs at 8:00.  We will return by 3:00 on Friday.

If you would like another copy of the supply list, please let me know and i will send one home with your child.  Remember rain gear and a snack should be kept in a backpack on the bus.  The students should be wearing comfortable shoes or boots for walking approximately a kilometre to the Bighouse.  Everything else can be packed in a duffel bag which the students can access once they get to the Bighouse.

Think warm and sunny, but pack for cold and wet!

Thanks for your support with this.  We are excited!

Hallowe'en Celebration

We will be at the Bighouse on Hallowe'en Day.  Although the students will be having a great experience there, they will miss out on Friday's Hallowe'en activities at Brooksbank.  So Wednesday afternoon we will have a small celebration with a few activities to choose from.  If anyone would like to send a small treat (1 for each student - nut free), please let me know in advance.  A fruit plate would also be appreciated.

Thanks a lot.

Oil Spill Clean Up

Today in Science

the students worked together to clean up oil spills.  They tried a variety of methods and learned that it is not easy to remove oil from water (and its inhabitants.)

Preparation for the Bighouse

A big thank you to the parents who are accompanying us to the Bighouse.  These include Toby (Aidan’s dad), Leah (Skye’s mom), Reza (Laleh’s dad), Coral (Elliott’s mom), Glen (Tiernan’s dad), Lynn (Mira's mom), and Terrie (Ella’s mom).

Thank you for returning the completed forms and cheques.

Last week Arianna demonstrated how to dress warmly at the Bighouse.  I hope you all found the supply list in your child's planner pocket.

The students are learning about how the Coast Salish obtained their basic needs (food, clothing, and shelter).  They are getting excited about our trip back in time!
