Field Trip to the Gordon Smith Art Gallery

We marched to the gallery at the School Board building.  There the students observed and discussed some of the art in the gallery - what they liked or would suggest changing, what they thought motivated the artists, the choices of medium etc.  Using this information they created their own abstract works which will soon be displayed at Brooksbank.  At the end of the day we speed walked home.  The students were well behaved, engaged, asked questions and made thoughtful comments.  They're proud of the art they created too.

A big thank you to Christine (Carter's mom), Anne (Lucas B's mom), and Ahmad (Nilia's dad) for walking with us and helping to supervise.

I will be publishing a couple word clouds each week.  These have been and will continue to be created by the students about the students. I just get to have fun formatting them.

Welcome Back After the Holidays

I hope all of you had some fun and time to relax over the break.  The students are settling in well and learning has begun.

Thank you for the gifts and kind messages.  Your generosity is appreciated.  (I liked telling people I received a goat for Christmas.)

Each child received a Welcome Back / Thank You card which should be in his/her planner pocket.  They are meant to be shared with parents.
