School Away from School Week April 20 - 24

Here we have Liam planting seeds in his garden.  Fresh vegetables soon, yum!  Anaiya and her sister made a beautiful cake and some cheerful artwork.  Kurt and his sister don't have to boast about the big one that got away...  because they didn't.  Holly made natural wind chimes on her walk at Rice Lake.  Owen has been practising on his guitar, and he wrote fan letters to Paul Mc Cartney.  And Cole and his brother made Mason bee houses on Earth Day.  The students are showing there are lots of opportunities to learn outside of school.  I'm so proud of all of them!

If you haven't sent me any work or photos, please do.  I want to show you off to each other.

A Different Kind of School Part 1

Wow!  Sure didn't expect the third term to be like this.  I miss being with all of you so so so much!  Thanks for being so patient as we figure out the best way to work together from our homes.  I'm pleased to see many of you have signed up for Khanacademy and noredink.  I hope you are enjoying the work and learning.  Many of you have completed some of the other suggested activities.  Good for you!  Thank you for sharing your work with me.  With your permission I am putting at least some of your work on the blog.

Here is Holly's imaginary description of her Easter weekend!  Pretty crazy!   Jack is hiding behind the beautiful cards he made for frontline workers in his family.

Above are
cheerful window decorations made by Madison's family and a schedule made by Elizabeth. Ethan made the soup and bread.  Wow, they look yummy!

Below is a diorama made about the Lion, Witch, and Wardrobe by Jesse last year. See if you can tell what he used to make the lamp post.  Cherise and her dad are playing instruments at 7:00pm to support frontline workers.  The French horn is made from her recycled science project.  So innovative and noisy!

Dayton wrote this note to make his mom laugh.  He actually doesn't mind playing fortnite instead of going out.
As well as what you see here, I have received a letter to a doctor from Cole.  It included a silly joke to make kids laugh.  Liam, Mackenzie, and Ethan sent pictures of their artwork - beautiful and cheering.  Jack made a pizza for his family.  How was it Jack? Ethan sent a photo of him banging pots at 7:00.  I think I heard him.  Maya sent an interesting report about Hutterites (an immigrant group).  They brought farming and business skills to Canada.  Others sent reports of what they are doing without photos. I hope I haven't left anyone out.

What a busy and creative group of students!  Please send examples of your work and photos of you!
I want to show you off to each other on the blog.  (Sorry, I haven't figured out how to add video - yet!)

Here's a photo of Pixel and me.
