A Busy First Week Back

Although some were a little sleepy, all of the students were excited on the first day back to school.  From the stories they shared, it sounds like all had a good holiday.  The week began with a little playtime in a little snow.

We began our Science unit (Forces and Machines) by building roller coasters.    The challenge was to have a marble complete a 1 metre course which had to have a rise part way along the course.  Watching the students overcome problems was interesting and rewarding.

The students also explored how different surfaces affect how high a ball bounces and how forces affect direction and speed of an object's movement.

And art was tasty and fun!

It was decided this was the only way to finish off the whipped cream!
