Thank you parents for your support with this! The students had everything they needed, and they worked well in teams. Thank you Christine and Vanessa for helping in the kitchen and classroom during the pizza making.

Young Actors Program (YAP)
The students enjoyed using their voices, body language, and facial expressions to communicate and role play. Sometimes they were given time to plan and practise. Other times they had to improvise. Tia was a great director.

Information from Your Music Teacher
Mrs. Leslie asked me to forward this information.
Hi there,
As a supplement to the many in-school instrument demos that have been done this spring on the North Shore, Tom Lee Music is hosting an additional event in our North Vancouver store location (801 Marine Drive) and inviting ALL elementary students that are considering joining band for the 2018-19 school year. We will have some guest musicians do a presentation and then allow participants to try out the instruments for themselves. We will also be providing snacks and prizes for attendees.
This is a great opportunity especially for students who may not have had a chance to participate in the event at their school, or for students that would like to try out additional instruments, or even those who just want to do it all over againJ.
The event will be happening on Saturday, June 3rd from 1:00pm until about 3:30
Click Here for More Details and to Register – This is a completely FREE event!
Hope to see you there!

Bob the Cat and His Human, James
We watched a short video about a down and out busker in London, England who turned his life around in order to help an injured stray cat.
The cat repaid him with his loyalty. Passersby noticed, took pictures, and made scarves for Bob. Eventually James and Bob became somewhat famous. They were interviewed, books were written, and now even a movie has been made.

Because no one knows Bob’s story before he met James, the students have been asked to write a fictitious account.
By now their rough draft should be completed. They have been asked to edit, type, save, and print their stories by Monday. Ideally, the hey should do their own typing. Please assist your child with basic editing. Help him/her to find spelling, punctuation, and sentence structure mistakes and to make sure the story makes sense.
Please do not suggest changes to their story ideas. In class we will work to improve sentence starters, description, add paragraphs etc.
Thank you for supporting your child. Many are quite excited about this project.

A Fort for All
The students were given the challenge to create a fort with walls and a roof that was big enough for the whole class to fit in. Leadership, creativity, and tenacity were demonstrated by many. They were successful!

Conferences and Happy Holidays
Thank you for coming to the student parent teacher conferences. The students were glad you came! I hope you felt you learned about your child's successes and goals for next term. It's always good to have your input as well.
We have all worked hard and are ready for a break! Have a happy safe spring break!

Buddy Comics
The Grade 5 students worked with their buddies to create comics in which the little buddies were super heroes. Mr. Karr told me later that his students really liked working with the older students. They felt special.
Freshgrade
I am learning how to use Freshgrade. After the break, the students will be sending photos and videos of some of their work using this technology. Please read about it below.
Thank you Ms. Peter
We have been lucky to have a student teacher from Switzerland work with us for the past three weeks. Today the students thanked her for helping in many ways and for teaching us a little about her country.
Supplies Needed
At this point in the school year, your child may have used up some of his/her school supplies. In your child's planner you should find a list of supplies that are needed. Please send the items after the spring break. (Used items are encouraged.) Prior to sending them, please have your child label the items with a permanent marker.
Thank you
Thank you

Pink Shirt Day
We participated in the Family of Schools Pink Shirt Day flash mob at Grand Boulevard. Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate and it was difficult to hear speeches, but we all showed our support for inclusion, compassion, and sticking up for each other. At school, we attended an assembly organized by the Do Good committee. Many students from Division 6 worked hard to create a video with a message. These students should be commended: Amelia, Olivia, Roya, Daniel, Drew, and Aly.
