After studying the construction of the CPR and its importance to Canada as a nation, the students reenacted the moment when the last spike was driven in. Each took on the role of a major figure present at that time and delivered a speech in which he introduced himself, stated his importance in the project and the importance of the CPR to Canada and BC. Finally a photograph was taken, similar to the famous photo -The Last Spike. In most cases, the students chose to dress for the part, use black and white film, and to look serious. Ask your child why people in old photographs always look serious.
